So let’s start with today’s topic.
“What instrument should I learn?”
Many of you might have got this question in your mind while planning to learn an instrument. I will help you in getting a clear idea about this. All the things that I am about to say are addressed to either individual pursuing a musical course or to parents, who are planning to get an instrument for their child. You should ask the following questions to yourself:
What inspires you/your child?
> Visit/take your child to some live concert or recitals.
> Listen to different musical instruments.
> Listen to some great musicians.
> Explore the styles of music usually played on different instruments.
Finding the answers to these points will surely help you in deciding your instrument.
Some other factors are also important to consider while deciding your instrument:
> Cost of instrument
> Weight and size of the instruments.
> Loudness (This may restrict possible practice times)
> Opportunity to play with others/band/orchestra/group.
“If you/your child loves singing…”
If you or your child love singing then I will encourage you to go for musical instruments like Guitar or Keyboard/Piano which are great as accompanying instruments.
“If you know some really good teacher…”
Consider learning an instrument which they teach rather than searching for a teacher.
